Blog Session 5 - "Scream"

One of my favorite movies it's "Scream" directed by Wes Craven, written by Kevin Williamson and produced by Dimension Films thats own by the Weinstein Brothers. It's a comedy horror movie, that surprised to the audiences and critics. It was released on 1996 but at first didn't cause a big impact, everyone thought that it was going to be a failure at the box office but as the weeks went on "Scream" start to grow up on numbers, to become a hit on the box office and became so succesful and loved by the public that become a trilogy.

The reason because I love this film it's because I'm a big fan of Slasher genre films, but I really hate some of the most famous films of that genre, like "Friday the 13th" or "When a Stranger calls", and "Halloween", this last one I don't hate it, but I don't love it neither.  "Screams" makes a parody of all of this films but without being a full comedy it's a movie that only horror fan can fully understand. I love the costume of the main killer named: "Ghost face", and some of the tone of the movie. Some times it's so cheesy but it's okay because the movie wants to be like that because the original films were like that only that they didn't fully embrace that characteristic.  I don't like none of the sequels but this one it's the perfect movie to see with friends that really know and understand the slasher genre.
